Meiji Shrine + Omotesando is Tokyo's quintessential "half-day walk" combination — forest, shrine, fashion district, and cafes all in one outing.
From IGO HOTEL, take the Yamanote Line for 9 minutes to Harajuku Station. Depart at 2:00 PM, return by 6:00 PM.
4 Stop Points
01|Harajuku Station → Meiji Shrine (30 min)
Exit the west side of Harajuku Station and you'll find the entrance torii gate of Meiji Shrine right away. Walk through the **700,000 square meter forest** for approximately 30 minutes to reach the main hall.
Along the way, you'll pass donated sake barrels and wine barrels (historical symbols of the Shrine).
02 | Meiji Shrine Main Hall (30 min)
You can worship in front of the main hall (ring the bell → bow twice → clap twice → bow once). **Ema (wooden prayer plaques) ¥500 available to write your wishes and hang them.**
The nearby "Meoto Kusu" (Couple's Camphor Tree) is a famous photo spot.
03|Omotesando Stroll (60 minutes)
Exit the south gate of Meiji Shrine and you're right at the entrance to Omotesando. **Fashion brand flagship stores line both sides of the 1-kilometer street**——Louis Vuitton, Issey Miyake, Comme des Garçons.
The architecture itself is more worth seeing than the products — the designs of Toyo Ito and Kengo Kuma are concentrated here.
04|Aoyama Cafe (60 minutes)
Turning into Aoyama at the end of Omotesando, you'll find **3-4 specialty coffee shops**——Blue Bottle, Maison Kitsuné, Glitch Coffee. ¥600-800 per cup.
After finishing your coffee, take the subway from Aoyama-Itchome Station back to Shinjuku.
**Completable in 3.5 hours**, fitting the "half-day" definition. The best time to depart is 14:00 to avoid crowds.
